Bryggen or the dock, also known as Tyskebryggen, is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the Vagen harbor. Around 1350 an office of the Hanseatic League was established there. In 1702, the buildings belonging to the Hanseatic League were damaged by fire and rebuilt later.

Bergenhus fortress is one of the oldest and best-preserved stone fortifications in Norway. Rosenkrantz Tower is a tower that derives its name from governor Erik Rosenkrantz who was governor of Bergenhus Fortress from 1560 to 1568.

Sailors’ Monument is a former fountain created in 1950. It depicts many different eras of sailors and fisherman going back to the Vikings. Located on Torgallmenningen square and surrounded by popular cafes and shops, Sailor's Monument is "the heart of Bergen".
