Berlin Cathedral

Berlin Cathedral is an impressive baroque structure, dating to 1905. The park in front of the palace is a quite area, just 10 footsteps away from the busy street. The cathedral operates as the museum with the guided tours and the admission charge through most of the day, but it's free of charge during the worship time at noon and 6 pm. Dome walkway 270 steps above the ground if worth a visit with the magnificent panorama of the city from the top.
Reichstag

Reichstag building is the meeting center of the Bundestag, the German parliament. It was the arena for the culmination of the Battle of Berlin of WW2, when Soviet army put the red flag above the damaged building. Shortly after the demolition of the Berlin wall, in 1995 reconstruction, the huge glass dome appeared on the top of the building, as the observation spot for tourists with the brilliant views of Tiergarten, Spree and the center of Berlin.
Holocaust Memorial

Holocaust Memorial or the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is located near the Tiergarten, 150 yards south from the Brandenburg gate. The site is covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The memorial was designed by Peter Eisenman - a prominent American architect.
Chekpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie is one of 3 checkpoints on the border of Soviet and American sectors of Berlin during the cold war. The checkpoints were indicated by letters - Alfa, Bravo, Charlie. With the Berlin wall demolition, the checkpoints were removed as well. Checkpoint Charlie stayed as a memory. The Berlin wall museum, also called Museum Haus at Checkpoint Charlie tells the history of the escape attempts during the Berlin wall times.
Brandenburg Gate

Brandenburg gate is the main symbol of Berlin and Germany itself. Located at the beginning of Unter den Linden street, and the boarder of the Tiergarten, it's the only remaining 18th century city gate of Berlin. Brandenburg gate was the important landmark of the cold war time as the most significant border of the Soviet and British sections of the divided city.

Berlin wall was a 155km structure that separated the West Berlin from the surrounding pro-Soviet GDR and East Berlin in 1961-1989. It is one of the major cold war symbols. After the demolition of the wall, sections of it were left around the city as the memorials. The largest Berlin wall section can be seen on the coast of the Spree, not far from Ostbahnhoff. The wall is covered with graffiti, including the famous "Kiss of Brezhnev and Honecker ".

Depart from Warnemünde or Rostock port to Berlin with a restroom stop on the way.

Our first stop is at the German Parliament, the Reichstag. The tour starts in the former government quarter of Berlin where you will stroll through the Tiergarten, visit the Soviet War Memorial and walk through the Brandenburg Gate, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the site of Hitler’s Bunker.
11:00 - 12:00
Free time for lunch at Potsdamer Platz.
12:00 - 13:30
After lunch we head to the site of the T4 program and down Stauffenberg Str to the former Nazi War Ministry which is now a museum dedicated to resistance fighters.
13:30 - 15:30
The tour continues by going briefly into West Berlin to see a bombed out church called the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial church. From here we move on to the HQ of the SS and Gestapo before heading over to the book burning square. The final stop is at the former Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which now houses a sculpture by Käthe Kollwitz.

A 2.5-3h bus transfer back, return to the ship 12 hrs after the start of the tour.
