Akershus Castle and Fortress

Akershus Castle and Fortress is a medieval complex protecting the city of Oslo. It has also been used as a prison.The main building now is used for official events and dinners for the foreign heads of state. Akershus fortress is still a military area, but is open to the public daily until 21:00.

Frogner Park is a public park, that used to be a part of Frogner Manor. The manor house is located in the south of the park, and houses the Oslo City Museum. Frogner Park contains the well-known Gustav Vigeland installation of 212 bronze and granite sculptures. 36 figure groups represent a “circle of life” theme.

Kon-Tiki Museum

The Kon-Tiki Museum houses vessels and maps from the Kon-Tiki expedition, and a library. The museum was originally built to house the Kon-Tiki raft, made of balsa wood based on pre-Columbian model that Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl used to sail from Peru to Polynesia in 1947. Another boat in the museum is the Ra II, a vessel built of reeds according to Heyerdahl's perception of an ancient Egyptian seagoing boat.

The Viking Ship Museum houses archaeological finds from different areas of Scandinavia. The main attractions are the Oseberg ship, Gokstad ship and Tune ship. Additionally, the Viking Age display includes sledges, beds, a horse cart, wood carving, tent components, buckets and other grave goods.

We'll start with taking the subway train to Nydalen, the newer district of Oslo where you will have a chance to experience 'travel and time and space' by taking the Tunnel of Light, a unique artistic display of color and light surrounding the escalator at the station.
09:30 - 10:30
Walk along the river Akerselva for approx 1 hour through the recreational part of Oslo - through forests and several waterfalls.
10:30 - 12:30
Board bus N 30 that goes clear through town and ends at the Bygdøy peninsula. Take a walk at the peninsula through the forest and along the waterfront till you get to Bygdøynes. Once there, you will visit the Kon-Tiki museum - a place that houses original vessels and artifacts from the world-renowned expeditions of Thor Heyerdahl, one of the most famous schentists, adventurers and environmental campaigners of all time.
12:30 - 13:00
At the end of the tour, you will catch the ferry back to the city center.

Walk through the Oslo center.
