Private Walking Rotterdam Shore Excursion

The town of Delfshaven grew around the port of the city of Delft. Delft itself was not located on a major river, so in 1389 a harbor was created about 10 km (6 mi) due south of the city, to be able to receive seafaring vessels and avoid tolls being levied by the neighboring and competing city of Rotterdam. This settlement was named Delfshaven ("Port of Delft"). Delfshaven escaped the bombing of Rotterdam by the Luftwaffe on May 14, 1940.

Erasmusbrug is a combined cable-stayed and bascule bridge in the center of Rotterdam, connecting the north and south parts of this city, second largest in the Netherlands. The bridge was named after Desiderius Erasmus, a prominent Christian renaissance humanist also known as Erasmus of Rotterdam. 

Cube houses are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high-density housing with sufficient space on the ground level since its main purpose is to optimize the space inside.
