Aarhus is the second-largest port of Denmark, so the port area is wast. The cruises dock across the bay from the old town, so sometimes you can admire the city panorama with the town hall spire. There is about a 1-mile long walk to reach the old town area.
The city has grown up around the main transport hubs, the river, the harbor and later the railway station, and as a result, the oldest parts of the city are also the most central and busiest today. Different parts of the city remind us of the different stages of city history from the Viking Age to the present time.
